Bioethics resources for the Ethics Advisory Committee:
Please email me at jmiller@emh.org or call my cell with any questions or suggestions:
1. Online Curriculum for Hospital Ethics Committees from the the State University of New York at Buffalo
2. Bioethics for Clinicians. A very good set of articles from Canada's leading medical journal (Canadian Medical Association Journal) covering topics such as informed consent, disclosure, capacity, voluntariness, etc.
3. Alden March Bioethics Institute (Albany, NY) has a comprehensive site with a bioethics blog featuring bioethics in the news, selected free articles from its journal, as well as links to other resources.
4. Skill building in ethics case consultation. Videos of case consultations with critique and questions, as well as other resources, from the Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Also, other materials.
5. Bioethics Resources including powerpoints, radio programs, and video. Heavy focus on cloning and reproductive techonology, but scroll down to see the video of a lecture by Daniel Callahan (cofounder of the Hastings Center) on multiculturalism in ethics, the goals of medicine, the rise of bioethics, and other matters of interest to our group (requires fast connection)
6. American College of Physicians Ethics Manual
7. AMA Code of Ethics, Ethics Standards, and educational resources
8. American Nurses Association Center for Ethics and Human Rights
9. American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Code of Ethics
10. Also at the ACHE site, an excellent article on ethical decisionmaking in the organizational context (you will need to download it ) |
